Once again, the Neighborhood Summit will be recognizing significant contributors to our City’s communities with three awards: Community Catalyst of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Rookie of the Year, and, following this year’s theme, the Resilience Award.
With this award, we recognize that hard work and dedication to positive change in our neighborhoods isn’t just something undertaken by the old hats and hands. This award is for the under-30 (ish) newcomers who are bringing passion, fierce commitment, and new forms of organizing and activism to make our city a better place for all.
To be resilient is to recognize the strength of a place’s culture, character, social structures, and local assets while creating systems and structures that anticipate and allow for change. This award will go to a community group, organization or collaborative whose work has made our city, community, or neighborhood more resilient, in one or more of the following categories:
- Health & Wellbeing
Everyone living and working in the city has access to what they need to survive and thrive.
- Economy & Society
The social & financial systems that enable urban populations to live peacefully, and act collectively
- Leadership & Strategy
The processes that promote effective leadership, inclusive decision-making, empowered stakeholders, and integrated, equitable planning
- Infrastructure & Environment
The man-made and natural systems that provide critical services, protect, and connect urban assets enabling the flow of goods, services, and knowledge.
